Remembering Marine John Hordell, B Troop, 46 (Royal Marine) Commando, injured near Rots, Calvados, Normandy on the 11 June 1944 and succumbed to his wounds on 20 June 1944. He was first buried at Graye-sur-Mer and then reinterred in Bayeux War Cemetery on the 11 December 1944.
John's name is engraved on the memorial erected in Rots by the commune in remembrance of the 22 men who gave their lives liberating their village.
